Conclusion

I am ready to begin the next chapter in my information science career by serving as a librarian. I completed 16 courses for 46-semester units for my MLIS degree. Through the university, I explored the specialties of school, medical, and academic librarianship. I also studied the specialties of archiving of papers and manuscripts. During my time working towards the MLIS, I learned the fundamentals of cataloging and reference and research. Grant writing was among the electives that I selected. some of the electives that I selected. I learned how to create web pages using HTML and CSS coding. I also crafted collaborative units of instruction with school teachers in the role of the school librarian.

As a library assistant of the FCPL working in a variety of communities in branches of varying sizes, I have led lap sit storytelling sessions curated to boost social development and foster early literacy. I have entered programming

statistics and understand the importance that such statistics play in the funding of the library. I am currently responsible for a display of select books. One display that I am particularly proud of is my banned book display. I also have conducted outreach and welcomed school groups.

I have developed competency in multiple areas of librarianship and established a professional toolkit that I will continue to refine over the course of my career as a librarian. The proffered evidence in this portfolio, the coursework, and work experience with the Fresno County Public Library have accumulated a breadth and depth of knowledge befitting that of a holder of the MLIS degree. It is my hope to be able to put this degree to use at a library or archival institution in the near future. Thank you for taking the time to review my professional portfolio. I look to working with you in the capacity of a librarian.
